    WHAT:    The stars were out last night in Newport Beach as celebrities and
             other fashionistas in the film industry celebrated the opening of
             the 9th Annual Newport Beach Film Festival at Fashion Island.
             More than 1,200 people attended the Gala, which followed the
             screening of the Festival's Opening Night film, Sherman's Way,
             shown at Edwards Big Newport across the street from Fashion
             Island.

             The evening included a haute fashion show by Fashion Island and
             Bloomingdale's, and haute cocktails and cuisine from several
             Newport Beach restaurants including Blue Coral Seafood & Spirits,
             Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar and Roy's Hawaiian Fusion
             Cuisine.

Celebrities in attendance included: Heidi Montag, Spencer Pratt,
Brooke Burns, Brooke Nevin and Elise Neal.

The Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles (IFFLA) is a nonprofit organization devoted to promoting a greater appreciation of Indian cinema by showcasing films about India and the diverse perspectives of the Indian Diaspora. The festival will run from April 22-27, 2008 at ArcLight Hollywood, a state-of-the-art facility located in the heart of Los Angeles. Jury and Audience Choice Prizes will be awarded for Best Feature, Documentary and Short film.

Elvis

The rare collection of previously unpublished Elvis Presley pictures have just been released.

The images capture the King in his jumpsuited glory while rocking in Madison Square Garden,
New York, in 1972.

They were recently found, almost by accident, by George Kalinsky, who took the photos.

Kalinsky came across the photos while doing research for a billboard company campaign called
"Great Moments in New York."

Kalinsky has been the official Madison Square Garden photographer for
more than 40 years and said he did not realise at the time that he had
so many good shots.

"When I photographed the show, I thought I only had a few good ones," he said.

"I just never really looked at the files until recently.

"He was electrifying in his white jumpsuit, with his cape on ... He was quite
humble, but he had an aura. There are very few people who have triple-X charisma,
and Elvis was one," Kaplinsky added.

Thailand To Become Olliewood

Bangkok Post in Thailand reported that Ollie North bought a land between Bangkok and Pattaya so he can start a Movie Studio in Thailand. Here is the excerpt from the news:

Thailand to become Olliewood

Oliver Stone has bought a plot of land betweek Bangkok and Pattaya as the first step to building a new movie studio in Thailand.

Entertainment trade papers reported on Friday that Stone and producer David Winters hope to attract other moviemakers and stars to Thailand with the country's scenery and low costs.

Stone was recently forced to halt production of Pinkville, a Vietnam war movie about the My Lai massacre, because of the Hollywood writers' strike. That movie now is unlikely to be made.

It is unclear how much competition Olliewood would provide to existing Thai studios and facilities. The well-known Thai producer Santa Pestonji was the local producer for Pinkville, and has handled Thai production of numerous Hollywood movies, including major blockbusters.

According to the reports:

A friend of Stone's said: "He and David have found some land halfway between Bangkok and Pattaya and a studio is being built for use by the US and British film industry.
