Joey - Starring / MALE / 18 TO 25 / Hispanic, Latin Helpful Skills - Athletic Joey is a young, good looking Latino boy who lives with a homophobic father. He battles with thoughts of suicide and identity. He is clearly emotional, but has a tough demeanor. Stephen - Starring / MALE / 18 TO 25 / African American, Black - White Mix, Caucasian, Mediterranean Helpful Skills - Athletic Joey's boyfriend. He is in love and protective of Joey. Also is athletic/muscular and does appear stereotypically gay. Father - Starring / MALE / 35 TO 45 / Hispanic, Latin / Does not accept his son's homosexuality. He's angry, not kind, and is disrespectful to Joey. Story Line: STORY LINE: DEADLEE is a groundbreaking Latino rap artist who targets gay issues. He has been featured in several magazines such as Instinct and LA Weekly. He is also starring in a documentary on MTV's LOGO Channel as well as the documentary, PICK UP THE MIC. This is his debut music video for his song, GOOD SOLDIER. In this song, Deadlee raps about a young Latino boy (JOEY) who lives in a homophobic situation. Joey is caught with his male lover (STEPHEN) by his father and is kicked out of his home. He eventually commits suicide by jumping off a bridge and into a train. The video will grapple with reinforcing themes of love and acceptance, utilizing the juxtaposition of contemporary gay youth with Joey's story. The video will also be featuring well known Canadian singer, Micah Barnes. |
