[VINCENT VAN METCALF] This thoughtful, quirky, young man (mid 20s - early 30s) works as a Man Maid
(he prefers "Cleaning Man") at a 2 and a half star hotel, the Babcock Inn, in scenic Montana. In decent
shape and moderately good-looking, he takes extreme pride in his work, drives a vespa scooter and lives in
a large tent in a compound-like area that is in tune with nature. Though not a Christian per se, he is gentle
by nature and observes certain Christian tenets, such as turning the other cheek when he is continuously
mocked by guests and the other (all female) staff. His drunk, philandering and charming father Mason who
was also a Man Maid and left Vincent with an incurable passion for his destiny of cleaning moderately priced
hotel rooms, abandoned young Vincent and his mother (driving the latter insane in the process) for the Ritz
Carlton in Pasadena. In love with the already-taken Chloe, Vincent goes against his better judgment by
entering into a relationship with his smitten boss Torry (Sara Rue) in order to make Chloe jealous. His plan
backfires after he falls in love with Torry, so now he must win Torry back and save the hotel from closing, a
feat best accomplished by hosting a fundraiser concert.
[BOBBY "BIG TIME" BILLINGS] 26-32 years old, he is Vincent's best friend, a strapping ex-rodeo star once known as "Big Time," who now spends his evenings with Vincent at the bar trying to prevent Vincent from getting his ass kicked in fights. His motto is "you can work when you're dead," but despite his apparently cavalier attitude toward life and partying, he knows love when he sees it, and he's convinced that Vincent should stop pining over Chloe and make an honest go of it with Torry instead. During the fundraising
concert, Vincent puts him in charge of the Hell's Angels, feeling that Bobby's status as a great rodeo star will keep everyone in line.
[CHLOE FLAMINGHAWK] A beautiful 24 year old singer/accordion player, she's as white as they come, but claims to be 1/2 Paiute Indian and 1/2 Swede. (Later she admits to Vincent she made it all up simply
because she thinks Indians are neat.) Though she's dating a cowboy hipster named Buck, it doesn't prevent
Vincent from showing up at all her concerts and getting into woefully overmatched fights defending her
honor from hecklers. She doesn't return his affections but she does enjoy his doting attention and the two
become genuine friends when she offers to get her godfather, a famous country singer, to headline his
fundraising concert to save the Babcock Inn.
[GOVNA] 42 years old, balding, he is the put-upon maintenance man at the Babcock Inn who envisions himself as a father figure to Vincent, but this assessment couldn't be further from the truth. Prone to eavesdropping and piping in when his suggestions aren't welcome, he waxes rhapsodic about Vincent's
father Mason, remembering him both as a great guy and as a worthless bastard. Most of the time he claims to miss the old man, and he also tries to do right by his own son, an aspiring performer, by pressuring Vincent to find a spot for him at the fundraising concert in exchange for providing security in the form of Hell's Angels members.
[TERRESSA GUTIERIEZ] 25-32 years old. A maid at the Babcock Inn, this snickering, mischievous co- worker of Vincent's delights in seeing him mocked by the guests of the hotel, openly steals soap,
mouthwash and other items from the rooms, and to Vincent's shock, engages in some "extra service" with
the guests. She's quick to point out, however, that she is not a "movie whore with a heart of gold, but a
spiteful one" and enjoys sabotaging Vincent's budding relationship with Torry, despite the fact that she was
the one who advised Vincent to make Chloe jealous by using Torry.
[BUSINESSMAN] Mid 30s - mid 40s. This weasely alpha male (ideally red-headed)is a sexist, racist, condescending jerk first seen crowing into his phone to a colleague about the sexual perks maids always give him. He gets quite a shock when Vincent arrives to clean his room, but quickly recovers and crudely mocks Vincent within an inch of his life. His plan to level the Babcock Inn into a "mixed use" space forces Torry, Vincent and the others to act fast to raise the funds to keep the Hotel afloat, and the Businessman nearly succeeds in shutting down the concert, too.
[MARIA ESPINOZA] Late 30s - 50s. The kind Shift Boss and den mother at the Babcock Inn, she genuinely seems to enjoy her job, and respects Vincent for both his work ethic and his ability to brush off people's constant mocking. In chipper speeches, she reminds the maids not to steal the new soap from the rooms
and warns them about the upcoming Homecoming Crowd because they always seem to need more towels.
STORY LINE: "Man Maid" VINCENT yearns to fill the shoes of his philandering father, the greatest cleaning man who ever scrubbed, while navigating the rocky course of love and friendship in Montana. |
